USB Port Broken - Barely Used and Non-Operational Now

I am so very disappointed in the quality of this product. I grew up in the 60's with my first camera being a Kodak which lead to having a positive opinion on Kodak products. After all, they've been around for over 134 years. So, I would definitely expect quality in this companies products. This scanner was purchased 3 years ago. Used ONE time by ONE person at that time. It sat in it's original box for 3 years untouched. I dug it out last week only to learn that the USB port was non-functional as the metal bracket was no longer in place but inside the scanner. As this is the connector to electrical power, the entire "new" scanner is non-functional. I called Kodak customer service knowing the following: this product was no longer under warranty, was 3 years old but like "new" as only used once, and not abused in any way by one user and one time. Of course, they could do NOTHING for me except offer me a 15% courtesy discount on a replacement product. Why in the world I purchase another Kodak scanner knowing the quality of this product is poorly manufactured? In retrospect, I wish I would have used it when it was within the 1 year warranty time frame but one would not expect this type of issue on a minimally used Kodak product. In prior days, a Kodak product WAS known for excellence in quality. Unfortunately, my current experience was not as such! Very disappointed.

Disappointing the KODAK SLIDE N SCAN

Windows 11 does not recognize the device. every 1 minute it displays a window saying "Windows doesn't recognize the connected USB device", and it plays a rather unpleasant sound (after 10 minutes of listening to it). With this problem, it is impossible to scan 100 or 200 photos continuosly. Nowhere on Kodak's website does it show any solution. If I don't a solution ASAP I'll return the scanner and buy another one from another brand.

Does what it does quite well and quickly

We have over 90 Kodak circular slide trays (mostly 140 capacity and some 80) to scan. Over 50+ years of family slides. We have made it through 26 of them so far in just a few days of off and on scanning. We stop and take breaks because it can get monotonous. The thing most liked about it is it autofocuses. One trick is to set the expose down to -3 in the settings. the slides look better when scanned that way. Only issue so far is there is no tray that works with the oldest slides we have which appear to be a different format, not 135 or 126. I am pretty sure the first couple of trays were shot with an old Kodak Brownie camera that had 120 format slide film. There is no included tray for 120 format. Kodak: are you watching these comments? Any chance you'll make a 120 slide film tray for this scanner?

    A learning experience.

I finally realized that I could manually remove the lock from my SD card so my ignorance was a factor here. I still find this unit a bit cumbersome, and I'm afraid of its plasticity would cause some of it to break, so I'll be very careful. I still only give it 3 1/2 stars.
